The Nigerian national football team, the Super Eagles, arrived in the Federal Capital Territory this morning following their second-place finish at the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) final in Cote D’Ivoire.
Nigeria suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to the host nation, Cote D’Ivoire, in a fiercely contested final at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan on Sunday. Despite putting up a spirited performance, the Super Eagles fell short of clinching the coveted AFCON title.
Key players of the Nigerian squad, including Alex Iwobi, Ahmed Musa, Victor Osimhen, Ola Aina, Frank Onyeka, Calvin Bassey, Ademola Lookman, Kenneth Omeruo, Joe Aribo, and Williams Trost Ekong, were warmly welcomed at a breakfast gathering held at the prestigious Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.
