Late Zambian first Republican President Dr Kenneth Kaunda affectionately known as KK was baptised on May 11, 1924, United Church of Zambia (UCZ) Lubwa mission Reverend in-charge Sydney Kabele told local media Friday adding that the Lubwa community was greatly aggrieved by the loss.
Dr Kaunda who died Thursday while receiving treatment for pneumonia at Maina Soko Military Hospital in Lusaka, was born on April 28, 1924 at Lubwa, Chinsali district of Muchinga Province (then Northern Province).
Speaking to the local Zambia News and Information Service (ZANIS) on Friday afternoon, Rev Kabele said Dr Kaunda was a devotee christian who found joy in serving his God.
Chinsali District now provincial headquarters for Muchinga is a historical place in Zambia where Dr Kaunda’s father and mother, David and Hellen are buried in Lubwa.
