Putin Shuns Peace Talks as Russia Strikes Ukraine
Russia has stepped up its military offensive against Ukraine, launching a missile strike that destroyed an ammunition depot near Kyiv as Russian President Vladimir Putin reportedly ruled out fresh peace negotiations.

The attack hit the town of Vyshneve, just outside the Ukrainian capital, where an ammunition warehouse exploded after being struck. Ukrainian officials said at least 10 people lost their lives, while hundreds of homes were damaged by the powerful blasts.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that the warehouse belonged to the state-owned defence company Ukroboronprom and disclosed that authorities had opened a criminal investigation into the incident.
He described the situation as unacceptable and said officials whose actions or negligence contributed to the tragedy would be held accountable, with disciplinary measures expected against those found responsible.
The explosion has drawn criticism from local residents, who questioned the presence of a military ammunition facility in a populated area and called for greater transparency from the authorities.
Meanwhile, hopes of ending the conflict through diplomacy have suffered another blow. Sources close to the Kremlin said Putin has no immediate plans to negotiate with Kyiv and remains focused on achieving Russia’s military objectives, particularly in Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region.
The development comes despite recent efforts by U.S. President Donald Trump to encourage dialogue after holding separate discussions with Putin and Zelenskyy.

With both sides showing little sign of compromise, the conflict appears set to continue as military operations intensify.
