In a historic first day of her presidential campaign, Vice President Kamala Harris swiftly garnered enough delegates to secure the Democratic nomination and raised an unprecedented $81 million campaign fund, but in less than 24 hours after launching her bid for the White House, she became the target of racially charged attacks from some Republicans.
Amid the intense political climate, former President Donald Trump used his social media platform to rebuke Harris, assigning her a new derogatory nickname, while emphasizing his 2025 agenda. Trump’s plans include cutting Social Security and Medicare, giving tax breaks to billionaires, and ending the Affordable Care Act, according to Harris.
In response, Harris took to Facebook to address her campaign’s priorities and vision. “When you read Donald Trump’s 2025 agenda, you will see he intends to cut Social Security and Medicare, give tax breaks to billionaires, end the Affordable Care Act, and more,” she wrote. “We are not going back.”
Harris emphasized her commitment to reproductive rights, stating, “This November, we will help elect a majority to Congress who agree that the government should not be telling a woman what to do with her body. When Congress passes the law to restore reproductive freedoms, as President of the United States, I will sign it into law.”
President Joe Biden recently announced his decision to withdraw from the presidential race, paving the way for Harris to mobilize for the Democratic Party nomination against Trump in the upcoming November 2024 elections.
