I’d Rather Join Bandits Than Sell Akara — Afrobeats Singer Mr Real
Afrobeats singer Mr Real has ignited fresh debate on social media after reacting to comments by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu on how Nigerians can cope with the country’s economic hardship.

The First Lady recently encouraged citizens to consider low-cost businesses such as selling akara, kulikuli and roasted corn, saying the ventures require little capital and could provide a source of income.
Responding to the remarks, Mr Real faulted the suggestion, arguing that it failed to reflect the realities confronting many Nigerians amid the current economic situation.

In a post shared on his Instagram page, the singer declared that he would rather become a bandit than venture into the petty trades mentioned by the First Lady.

He added that if he were eventually arrested, he believed the government would rehabilitate him through an amnesty programme.
“I go rather join bandit than to sell kulikuli and akara. And my target will be only politicians. At least if I am caught, they will rehabilitate me,” he wrote.

His remarks have since sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians weighing in on both his comments and the First Lady’s earlier advice.
