FIFA Probes Spain-Argentina World Cup Final Clash
FIFA has opened a disciplinary investigation into incidents that occurred after the 2026 World Cup final between Spain and Argentina.
Spain won the match through Ferran Torres’ 106th-minute goal, but the final was followed by a confrontation involving players and officials from both teams.
Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernández had earlier been sent off in the 90th minute for a foul on Spain defender Pau Cubarsí.
Footage that emerged after the match appeared to show Argentina’s Leandro Paredes and Nahuel Molina involved in confrontations with Spain’s Eric García and Rodri. Argentina coach Roberto Ayala was also reportedly seen striking Spain forward Dani Olmo.
FIFA said it had appointed a Disciplinary and Ethics Prosecutor, in line with Article 36 of its Disciplinary Code, to investigate possible breaches of the regulations.
“Further details will be communicated by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee once the prosecutor’s report has been completed,” FIFA said.
