President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to combating corruption, stating that it has been a central focus of his government.
Addressing public skepticism about his anti-corruption measures, the President emphasized the importance of transparency and access to information in curbing corrupt practices.
Key measures implemented by his government include the passage of the Right to Information Act (RTI) in 2019, aimed at enhancing transparency in public institutions. Additionally, the Witness Protection Act of 2018 was enacted to safeguard individuals who cooperate with law enforcement in corruption investigations.
Speaking at the commissioning of ‘The Law House’ on June 10, President Akufo-Addo underscored the significance of these legislative achievements in fostering a culture of accountability. He also addressed criticism from former President John Mahama, asserting that thorough investigations are conducted to ensure justice in corruption allegations involving public officials.
