PM Robinah Nabbanja.

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja is under fire over unpaid expenses she incurred while on her official travel to New York during the UN General Assembly in September.

A letter penned by Uganda’s Ambassador to the UN, Adonia Ayebare, to the Office of the Prime Minister calling for payment of car hire services amounting to $10,000 sparked ire on Twitter after it was leaked a month later.

Nabbanja was invited by the President of the UN General Assembly and the Executive Director of UN Women to attend the Women Leaders Forum. According to the Ambassador, Uganda’s Mission at the UN hired a car for the Prime Minister but it was used beyond the working hours agreed resulting into the overtime.

Ugandans wondered what the Prime Minister who is not known as a frequent traveler was doing in the extra hours for the cost overrun to happen. At the time of her travel, Nabbanja was under fire over using a large entourage for her trip.
