NIGERIA: Minister Decries Inadequacy of N532.5bn Budget to Tackle Poverty in Nigeria

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, expressed concern over the inadequacy of the ministry’s 2024 budget of N532.5 billion in addressing poverty in Nigeria.

Edu lamented that the budget increase didn’t match the inflation rate and noted a significant reduction in the capital budget. She highlighted that the allocation falls short of meeting the ministry’s mandate to alleviate poverty in the country.
