In an attempt to prevent a threatened strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), the federal government held a meeting with labor leaders. After the meeting, the government announced concessions, including a temporary wage increase of ₦35,000 for government workers, measures to ease transportation difficulties by providing Compressed Natural Gas, removal of vat on diesel for six months and financial assistance to 15 million Nigerians with ₦25,000 every month, beginning from October to December. Nonetheless, it emphasized that workers must be on duty for these concessions to take effect. NLC President Joe Ajaero stated they would consider the government’s promises before deciding on the strike, consulting with their organizational bodies. The Labour delegation included key figures from NLC and TUC. #OMAGIST@AFRICAWORLDNEWS
