2027 ADC Candidate Atiku Makes Fresh Claim on Tinubu
The 2027 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Atiku Abubakar, has made a fresh allegation concerning President Bola Tinubu, saying he has evidence to support his claim.
Atiku made the disclosure during an interview with the BBC published on Friday, where he also defended his decision to remain in the presidential race.
The former vice president said his determination to seek the presidency was influenced by his long-standing opposition to military rule and the setbacks he experienced in previous attempts to contest.
He maintained that he remains constitutionally qualified to seek the office and described himself as experienced, competent and patriotic enough to lead Nigeria.
Atiku also took aim at the government over insecurity, accusing it of failing to adequately address weaknesses in the country’s defence and policing systems.
He promised that tackling insecurity would be a priority of his administration, saying he would work to address the problem within his first year in office if elected.
Speaking about his suitability for the presidency, Atiku questioned why voters should reject him while choosing an incumbent he described as old and unwell.
“You have a President who is 90 years old now and sick and I am healthy and strong. So why won’t I make myself available to serve my country?” he asked.
Atiku further said he was prepared to substantiate his allegation before a court if necessary.
“I have evidence that President Tinubu is 90 years old and I will present it in court,” he said.
