Despite facing severe economic challenges and high national debt, Nigeria has dispatched the largest delegation of 289 members to the 112th International Labour Conference (ILC) in Geneva, Switzerland. Led by the Minister of State for Labour and Productivity, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, the Nigerian contingent surpasses all 187 participating countries.
The delegation includes government, employer, and worker representatives. This move highlights Nigeria’s dedication to global labor discussions despite domestic economic strain. Concurrently, the World Bank has approved $2.25 billion to support Nigeria’s economic reforms aimed at stabilizing the economy and supporting vulnerable households.
