Omoyele Sowore, the leader of the #RevolutionNow movement, has issued 14 demands aimed at President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

These demands, influenced by the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria campaign, come before the planned ‘Days of Rage’ protests, set to occur from late July to August 2024.

The 14 Key Demands:

New Constitution: Replace the 1999 Constitution with one created by the people through a Sovereign National Conference and a National Referendum.
Legislative Reform: Eliminate the Senate, retain the House of Representatives, and make lawmaking a part-time job.
Minimum Wage: Establish a minimum wage of at least N250,000 monthly for Nigerian workers.
Education Investment: Heavily invest in education, providing grants instead of loans, and enforce free, compulsory education for children.
Release Nnamdi Kanu: Unconditionally release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and demilitarize the South East.
Renationalize Enterprises: Take back publicly owned enterprises sold to officials and their allies.
Corruption-Free Subsidy: Reinstate a transparent subsidy regime to combat hunger and poverty.
Probe Leaders: Investigate and recover funds looted by past and present leaders to finance education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
Restructuring: Restructure Nigeria to reflect its diversity, ensure resource control, decentralize power, and promote regional development.
Security Reform: Reform security agencies to stop human rights violations and enhance citizens’ safety.
Energy Fund: Establish a Special Energy Fund to drive corruption-free development in the power sector.
Electoral Body Overhaul: Reconstitute INEC to remove corrupt and biased officials.
Public Works and Industrialization: Invest massively in public works and industrialization to create jobs for the youth.
Judiciary Overhaul: Conduct a major overhaul of the judiciary to remove corrupt judges and officers, ensuring access to justice for all citizens.
Sowore urges nationwide participation in the ‘Days of Rage’ protests, which mark the fifth anniversary of the 2019 #RevolutionNow demonstration.
