Femi Falana, a prominent human rights lawyer, has stated that threats from the government will not deter the nationwide #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests planned for August 1-10, 2024.

Despite warnings from President Bola Tinubu, the National Orientation Agency, the Nigeria Police Force, and the House of Representatives about potential unrest akin to the 2020 #EndSARS protests, Falana remains resolute. He argues that threats often escalate tensions and increase public support for protests. Instead, Falana advocates for direct engagement with protest leaders to address their concerns constructively.

He suggests that the government should focus on genuine dialogue to resolve underlying issues, which could prevent further unrest and improve the nation’s socioeconomic conditions. Falana’s stance highlights the importance of addressing public grievances through open communication rather than confrontation.
