The South African government has announced Sunday, the relaxation of some Covid-19 restrictions after getting past the peak of the pandemic’s third wave.

Speaking during his evening address to the nation, Republican President Cyril Ramaphosa lifted a ban on weekday alcohol sales in addition to allowing inter-province movements.

However, the President said mandatory masking up and a night-time curfew remains in force.

With a 20% reduction infections, the rainbow nation has reopened schools today, July 27.

South Africa remains among Africa’s top five COVID-19 most hit countries.
