Southern governors, led by Governor Dapo Abiodun, are intensifying efforts to counter the influx of ISWAP terrorists into the South.
Abiodun emphasized that security is a shared responsibility, highlighting his commitment to funding security operations and fostering regional cooperation.
“Governor Dapo Abiodun is convinced that security is a shared responsibility of both the federal and the state governments,” he said.
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State also raised concerns about criminals fleeing military actions in the North, assuring the public that his government is determined to eliminate these threats.
“The ongoing military operations in the North-West… have forced many criminals to seek refuge in other states, including Oyo,” Makinde stated.
Security agencies are stepping up vigilance, with the South West Amotekun corps and other local authorities preparing for potential threats.
“We are ready for them,” said Amotekun Chairman, Chief Adetunji Adeleye. Meanwhile, the Yoruba Council of Elders called for proactive measures, urging the government to act swiftly:
“We urge all agencies of Government to be proactive in this unanimous struggle to chase them out,” said Chief Oladipo Oyewole.
