The UPDF is comprised of four services that is the land forces, Air forces, Special command force, Reserve forces and Marine. Our interest is to protect Uganda and africa atlarge. Providing a safe and secure environment in which all Ugandan citizens can live and prosper.

About Air Force:
The Uganda Air Force is a statutory institute and a service arm of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces, the other being the Land Forces. It is established by the Defence forces Act, 2005, Section 3 Sub section 2(b).

The Uganda Air force’s mission and vision are in consonance with the country’s comprehensive Defence policy, especially in threats analysis, given the fact that we are a landlocked country. Uganda Air force is conscious of the fact that any threats to countries that constitute Uganda’s lifelines to the seas are threats to Uganda and this forms a basic ingredient of Uganda’s strategic Defence posture.

There is ample evidence that the force has played its crucial role in the pursuit of its stated mission. Its swiftness in evacuating causalities and in assisting civil authorities in search and rescue missions is commendable.

Air Force Core Tasks:
Defending Uganda’s Airspace and supporting own land forces wherever they are.
Destroying strategic enemy positions.
Providing VIP transport.
Peace support missions and relief in the event of natural disasters.
All the other duties of UPDF as per Article 208 of the constitution of the Republic of Uganda.

Mission:
To defend the Uganda’s air space, provide air support to the land forces and engage in operations other than war

Vision:
To remain Uganda’s strategic defence power by deterring potential threats and winning wars.

Air Force Leadership:

About Land Forces:
The Land Forces have the capacity to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Uganda on land. They are strong enough to deter any possible aggregation from across national borders.

However, these borders are both long and at times insecure. It is therefore important that sufficient forces be deployed intelligently, and with sufficient speed, to be able to find, contain and destroy the threat.

The land forces are
comprised of the Marine, Artillery, Infantry and Armoured Brigade

Land Forces Leadership:

About Special Forces: Command
The Special Forces Command (SFC) is a specialized component of the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) tasked with carrying out specialized missions or operations at a moment’s notice.

Mission:
Our mission is “To develop and operate a powerful and versatile special operations force that is situated within the unique Ugandan way of war and is responsive to the requirements of the UPDF and the nation.

SFC Leadership:

Reserve Forces:
Uganda maintains a capability to reinforce and if necessary re-constitute the Defence Forces. A built-in reserve capability for all services must always be adequately maintained.
