US Launches Fresh Strikes on Iran as Jordan Intercepts Five Iranian Missiles

The United States has launched a fresh wave of strikes against Iran, while Jordan says it intercepted five Iranian missiles heading towards its territory, in a sharp escalation that has raised new concerns about the conflict spreading across the Middle East.

Jordan’s Armed Forces said its air-defence systems detected the missiles and carried out interception measures before they could hit their targets. The military, according to the Jordan News Agency, said there were no casualties.

The Jordanian military also said it remained on the highest level of readiness and was prepared to respond to any threat directed at the kingdom or its citizens.

The missile attack came shortly after the United States carried out what it described as a “heavy wave” of strikes against targets in Iran.

The new US operation followed an Iranian attack on American military installations in Jordan on Wednesday, prompting Washington to intensify its military response.

The US military said dozens of targets linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps were struck during the latest operation.

The renewed attacks came after several days of relative calm, ending a pause that had offered a brief reduction in hostilities between the two sides.

The latest developments have heightened fears that the conflict could move beyond the direct confrontation between the US and Iran and draw more countries into the fighting.

Jordan’s interception of the Iranian missiles has added to concerns among governments across the region, particularly as military activity increases around areas hosting American forces.

With the United States stepping up its attacks and Iran continuing to demonstrate its ability to launch missiles beyond its borders, uncertainty is growing over what could come next.

The situation remains tense, with regional governments closely watching for further attacks as fears of a broader Middle East war continue to mount.
