The Zimbabwean government has announced Monday, a compulsory Covid-19 jab for all civil servants. A leaked circular from the Public Service Commission (PSC) says unvaccinated public workers will with immediate effect be banned from using public buses.
In Circular number 20 of 2021 addressed to permanent secretaries, PSC secretary Jonathan Wutawunashe wrote:
“All civil servants are considered to be frontline workers as indicated by the health authorities.
“All heads of ministries are, therefore, directed to ensure that all civil servants their jurisdiction are vaccinated.”
The circular comes after weeks of government condemnation over Covid19 vaccination force-matching which the country’s President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa emphatically talked about.
The southern African country is grappling with a surge in daily Covid-19 infections and deaths that are driven by the South African and Delta variants.
