Nigeria: Eze Frederick Nwajagu Released from Detention

His Royal Majesty, Eze Frederick Nwajagu, Eze Ndígbo of Ajao Estate, has been released from detention after spending a year and some months behind bars. His release, which took place yesterday, came after a Lagos court cleared him of charges linking him to terrorism and inviting the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). However, he was initially sentenced to 12 months in prison for the charge of impersonating the Eze Ndígbo, a title he has held for years.

The efforts of Igbo leaders and influential organizations, including Ohanaeze Ndígbo, were instrumental in securing his release. They provided evidence that Eze Nwajagu is indeed the legitimate Eze Ndígbo of Ajao Estate and not an impersonator, as previously claimed.

Upon his return to his palace in Ajao Estate, Eze Nwajagu expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his people. He thanked them for their unshakable support, both spiritually and financially, during his time in prison. “My only crime was being Igbo,” he said, emphasizing the injustice of his arrest while those who harm and destroy the lives of Igbos are left unpunished.

With a strong and clear voice, Eze Nwajagu confirmed that he is back on his throne as the rightful HRM Eze Ndígbo of Ajao Estate, vowing to continue his work of protecting and supporting the Igbo community. His release is seen as a victory not only for him but for the entire Igbo people who rallied behind their king during his difficult time.
