President Cyril Ramaphosa has with immediate effect placed Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize on special leave to pave way for investigations into allegations of corruption leveled against the Minister.

In a statement released this afternoon, President Ramaphosa explained that the special leave will enable the Minister to attend to corruption allegations and investigations about contracts the Health Department awarded to Digital Vibes, a service provider.

Scant information gathered by AfricaWorld Reports news crew shows that the Health Minister failed in his discharge of duties and acted outside the laws that govern government’s awarding of contracts

As the Special Investigating Unit probes the alleged corruption scandal, Ramaphosa has appointed Tourism Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane as Acting Health Minister until further notice.
