The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) for declaring that there will be “no vacancy in Aso Rock” in 2027, calling the remark undemocratic and premature.
Responding to comments made by APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, the ADC stated that President Bola Tinubu must seek a fresh mandate like any other incumbent. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said leadership in a democracy must be earned, not assumed.
“The office of the President is not hereditary. Nigerians alone will decide who governs them in 2027,” he said.
The ADC cited ongoing national challenges — including insecurity, poverty, and unemployment — and urged political leaders to respect the electoral process rather than presume its outcome.
The party reiterated its commitment to democratic principles and encouraged Nigerians to stay engaged ahead of the next general election.
