The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially permitted Peter Obi of Nigeria’s Labour Party and Nasir El-Rufai of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to remain in their respective parties ahead of the 2027 general elections. Bolaji Abdullahi, ADC’s interim National Publicity Secretary, explained that this concession was granted because both politicians’ supporters have already filed to contest elections under their current party platforms.
This clarification came after a firm warning from ADC interim Chairman David Mark against any form of indiscipline or anti-party activities within the party. Meanwhile, Obi’s camp dismissed rumors suggesting he would defect, reaffirming his continued loyalty to the Labour Party and the opposition coalition for the upcoming polls.
Obi’s media team also refuted circulating false statements claiming he had joined the ADC or accepted a role within the party, urging the public to rely only on official communications from his office as he remains focused on his political mission in Nigeria
