Uganda’s three-decade President Yoweri Museveni has described Guinea’s Sunday military takeover as a “step backwards”.
Museveni told France 24 that the Guinea junta must ‘get out’ adding that the small West African country should return to civilian rule:
“They should be told to get out because they are not the solution for the country.”
“We had them [coups] in the 1960s – they were part of Africa’s problems so I condemn the coup [in Guinea]”.
Special Forces head who is also a French former legionnaire, Col Mamady Doumbouya, led other soldiers to oust and arrest President Alpha Conde on Sunday, citing rampant corruption, abuse of power and mismanagement.
