The Nigerian movie industry has been plunged into mourning following the death of veteran actress and filmmaker, Oby Kechere, fondly remembered by many for her iconic role as “Ms. Koi Koi” in the timeless Nollywood classic, Aki na Ukwa.
Her passing was confirmed by the Directors Guild of Nigeria, which announced on Friday that the actress died on Monday, April 27, 2026, after a prolonged illness.
