
The Imo State Chapter of the APC Youth League on Thursday, July 23, 2026, successfully hosted its Interactive Session and Banquet at the APC Party Secretariat, Okigwe Road, Owerri. The event brought together party leaders, government officials, youth stakeholders, and members of the League in a renewed commitment to strengthening the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The gathering was attended by several distinguished personalities, including the Imo State APC Chairman, Chief Austine Onyedebelu; the State Party Secretary, Hon. Onyekachi Ibezim; the Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Hon. Declan Emelumba; the Imo State NDDC Representative, Hon. Kyrian Uchegbu, JP, PhD; the Orlu APC Zonal Chairman, Chief Frank Onyejiaka; the Owerri APC Zonal Chairman, Chief Justus Ogu; the Executive Chairman of Ngor-Okpala LGA, Chief Mrs. Chika Ibekwe; the Vice Chairman of Owerri West LGA, Prince Amako Osinachi (No Vex); the Special Adviser on Ethics to the Governor, Hon. Okorie; and the National Administrative Secretary of the APC Youth League, Engr. Uzoho Sopuruchi, who represented the League’s national leadership.

In his welcome address, the State Coordinator of the APC Youth League, Dr. Promise Okolie, reflected on the journey of the organization from its inception to its present achievements. He shared his personal experience in politics, noting that he left his medical profession to dedicate himself to public service and youth mobilization. He emphasized that his vision is inspired by the leadership of Governor Hope Uzodimma and is centered on creating opportunities for young people to participate actively in governance and party affairs.

Dr. Okolie reaffirmed the League’s commitment to working in accordance with the APC Constitution and electoral guidelines while mobilizing support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Hope Uzodimma, and all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
The major highlight of the event was the formal inauguration and deployment of Booth Watchdogs and Ward Canvassers across all 305 wards in Imo State, performed by the State APC Chairman, Chief Austine Onyedebelu. The initiative is aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots structure, improving voter mobilization, promoting civic engagement, and ensuring effective party coordination at the polling-unit level.

During the interactive session, members of the APC Youth League engaged party leaders on issues relating to youth inclusion, political participation, and greater recognition of the contributions of young party members. Responding on behalf of the party leadership, Chief Austine Onyedebelu assured the League of the party’s continued support and pledged to present its strategic plans and recommendations to Governor Hope Uzodimma for consideration.
The event also featured goodwill messages from invited guests, who commended the League for its growing organizational strength across the state’s 27 Local Government Areas and 305 wards.

They urged members to remain united, work closely with party leadership at all levels, and sustain grassroots mobilization in preparation for future electoral victories.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of a special award to Chief Austine Onyedebelu, who was honoured as the Father of the Imo State APC Youth League, in recognition of his support for the organization. Merit Awards were also presented to Hon. Kyrian Uchegbu, JP, PhD, Chief Mrs. Chika Ibekwe, and Prince Amako Osinachi (No Vex) for their outstanding contributions to the APC Youth League, the party, and the development of Imo State.
