Second Shooting Incident Reported Outside Toronto US Consulate in Four Months
A second shooting incident has been reported outside the United States Consulate in downtown Toronto within four months, with police confirming that no one was injured.
Toronto Police said officers responded early Monday after hearing what appeared to be a gunshot near the consulate on University Avenue.
Investigators later found evidence that a firearm had been discharged outside the building.
A white sedan was reportedly seen fleeing the area shortly after the incident.
Police sealed off the immediate surroundings as they began examining the scene. No arrest had been announced and no suspect had been identified as of the time of filing the report.
The incident comes months after several shots were fired at the same consulate on March 10.
It also follows a number of shootings involving synagogues in the Toronto area.
In June, police said young people in the region were allegedly being paid to fire at various targets, including synagogues, Jewish schools and the US Consulate.
Authorities have not established whether the latest incident is connected to the previous shootings.
No injuries were reported.
