VIDEO: 8 Children Among 30 Killed in Kaduna Community Attack

At least 30 people, including eight children, have been killed after armed attackers invaded Naridon Village in Kamaru Ward, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The incident occurred late on Sunday night, with the attackers reportedly storming the community around 11 p.m. and firing at residents before setting houses and shops on fire.

The Secretary to the Village Head of Naridon, Dogon Rana, confirmed the attack in a telephone interview on Monday.

He said 30 deaths had been confirmed, while four other victims sustained critical injuries and were receiving treatment.

Rana said the community had suffered extensive destruction, with several families losing loved ones and their homes.

He disclosed that one family lost five children in the attack, while the only surviving child was critically injured.

The village official also said his home was among the properties destroyed during the assault.

Several shops and other buildings were also reportedly burnt, leaving many residents homeless.

Rana attributed the high casualty figure partly to the poor state of the road connecting the community to other areas.

He said the absence of a motorable road delayed assistance and made it difficult for residents to flee during the attack.

He called on the Federal Government, the Kaduna State Government and security agencies to increase security in the area and urgently improve access to the community.

A resident who spoke anonymously for security reasons alleged that 22 members of the Rana family were among those killed.

The resident also claimed that the attack continued for approximately three hours without any intervention from security personnel.

According to the source, military formations in Kamaru and Ungwan Magaji are located about two kilometres from Naridon.

The resident further claimed that only one military officer and four Mobile Police personnel had been deployed to the community after the attack.

The Kaduna State Police Command had not officially commented on the incident as of the time of filing the report. Calls to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, were reportedly unanswered, while a text message sent to his phone had not received a response.

The attack has increased security concerns in Kauru Local Government Area, where several communities have experienced repeated attacks, loss of lives, destruction of property and displacement in recent years.

Further details are expected.
