Manchester United Set Sights on New Left-Back After £65m Baleba Move
Manchester United appear to be putting the finishing touches on their £65 million deal for Carlos Baleba, but I don’t think their transfer business should stop there. The next area that needs serious attention is the left-back position, where the club could find itself dangerously short of options.
At 31, Luke Shaw cannot realistically be expected to play almost every Premier League, Champions League and cup match, while youngster Harry Amass could leave the club. That makes Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall an obvious target. The 21-year-old is highly rated and could provide both immediate competition for Shaw and a long-term solution, although Newcastle are reportedly demanding a significant fee and have insisted he is not for sale.
If Hall proves impossible to sign, United could explore alternatives such as Club Brugge’s Joaquin Seys or Racing Santander teenager Jorge Salinas.

But whichever route they choose, I believe Manchester United need to act quickly. Baleba could strengthen the midfield, but leaving the left-back position exposed could create a serious problem for Michael Carrick’s plans this season.
