Super Falcons Coach Sacked After WAFCON Exit
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has sacked Super Falcons head coach Justine Madugu and ordered members of his technical crew to step down with immediate effect.

The federation announced the decision on Monday in a brief statement on its official X account.
“The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has asked members of the technical crew of the @NGSuper_Falcons to step down with immediate effect,” the statement read.
The decision follows the Falcons’ disappointing campaign at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where Nigeria’s title hopes ended in the quarter-finals.
The nine-time African champions were knocked out after a 1-0 defeat to rivals Cameroon.
Nigeria also suffered another setback in its bid to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup after losing 2-1 to South Africa, a result that ruled the team out of the inter-confederation playoffs.
The back-to-back setbacks increased pressure on the coaching staff, eventually leading to the NFF’s decision to make a change.
The federation has not announced a replacement for the coach or the other members of the technical crew.
