President Joao Lourenco has fired the security minister and head of security and intelligence service amidst a financial scandal the two have been caught in.
The development comes after the country seized millions of dollars Euros including Kwanzas during an investigation involving arm officers named in embezzlement, currency retention and other big scandals.
According to local media, Angola’s Central Bank launched an investigation into the circumstances wherein huge sums of money belonging to a Central was found with military personnel from the security House of the Angola’s presidency.
President Lourenco has since 2017 placed highly on anti-corruption drive after ending former president dos Santos’ nearly four decades grip on power.
