Atiku Aide Urges DSS to Question Sunday Igboho Over Oyo School Abduction Claims

Fresh reactions have trailed the abduction of students and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, as political voices weigh in on the handling of the case.

Paul Ibe, media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has called on the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies to urgently invite Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho, over his recent claims about the incident.

Igboho had told members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) that he knows those behind the kidnappings and suggested that some politicians may be involved, adding that he would reveal their identities if the situation continues.

Reacting, Ibe said security agencies should not ignore such statements if they could help in securing the release of the victims, stressing that all credible leads must be explored to ensure the safe return of the abducted students and teachers.

He also raised concerns about the federal government’s response to other abductions, particularly the reported kidnapping of more than 50 schoolchildren in Mussa, Borno State in May.

According to him, the handling of insecurity cases across different regions appears uneven, questioning why some incidents receive more attention than others.

Ibe further asked when the government would strengthen security presence in vulnerable communities, including the deployment of forest guards, instead of reacting only after attacks occur.

The remarks come amid renewed public pressure on authorities to intensify efforts against rising cases of school abductions across Nigeria.
