Jinja, Uganda | BUL FC defeated Busoga United 1-0 to end the year on top of the Uganda Premier League table. The match was played on Thursday at the Njeru-based FUFA Technical Center.
BUL’s winning goal was scored by Alex Kitata, in the 31st minute of the game. Busoga United, however, edged a notch higher than their hosts, with a ball possession of 51% against BUL’s 49%.
Busoga also enjoyed six shots on target, with BUL boasting three shots, from which one of them was converted into their lone winning goal of the game.
BUL’s head coach, Abbey Kikomeko who once coached Busoga United says that their rivals play competitive football and they comprehensively planned to have a hard win.
Kikomeko also noted that most of the key players at BUL FC were former players of Busoga United and both sides knew each other’s style of play.
“We are on top of the league and every team comes big and ready for us, therefore, we have resolved to equally plan uniquely for every game ahead of us, to maintain our tight grip on the trophy,” he said.
Meanwhile, Busoga’s head coach, Peter Onen said that their side not only created more goal-scoring opportunities than their guests, but they also dominated the game.
“We studied our opponent well and our game plan inclined on dominating the game, however, in football, there is luck, and
irrespective of how good you’re, without luck, you can’t win and that’s how we lost,” Onen said.
