Eric Omondi Builds Apartment for Ailing Githurai Mum After Dorea Chege’s Appeal
Comedian Eric Omondi has once again melted hearts after showing the progress of the apartment he is building for Mama Simon, an ailing woman from Githurai whose story moved many Kenyans.

The comedian revealed that the building has now reached the third floor, with the ground floor already completed and serving as the family’s new home.
Eric’s initiative, Team Sisi Kwa Sisi, raised over KSh 6.5 million from well-wishers to support Mama Simon’s medical care, her children’s education, and the construction of a sustainable family home.
Mama Simon’s struggles were first shared online by YouTuber Dorea Chege and her husband DJ Dibul, who revealed that the sick woman was bedridden and being cared for by her two young sons in a modest home.
Their story went viral, prompting Kenyans and Eric Omondi to step in and help.
Through the funds raised, Eric bought land and began constructing a three-storey apartment in Kamakis, with a shop for the family being added at the entrance.
The project aims to provide both shelter and a source of income for Mama Simon’s family.
When Mama Simon was recently shown her new home, she was overcome with emotion, expressing heartfelt gratitude to Kenyans who contributed to her transformation.
She blessed everyone who came to her aid, calling them her “brothers, sisters, and uncles to my children.” Eric, in his message, thanked Kenyans for their kindness and urged them to keep supporting the project until all eight rental units are complete.

He also encouraged people to send their contributions directly to Mama Simon as a way of finishing the apartments and securing the family’s future.
