Tension has characterized the small Eswatini Kingdom after security forces shot and injured at least 30 nurses who participated in a Wednesday pro-democracy protest.
According to the information collected from Swaziland Democratic Nurses Union, nurses and other workers had staged a peaceful protest in Mbabane city before they encountered what the union has been described as “unprecedented show of force” by security forces.
Authorities have maintained an internet blackout in the absolute monarch country, making it difficulty to access and verify information.
Africa’s last absolute monarchy has been making headlines in recent weeks all for cracking down on pro-democracy protests.
