VDM Storms Police Headquarters With Protesters, Challenges AIG Moshood Over Hameed Case

Social media activist Verydarkman, popularly known as VDM, has taken his campaign for justice to the Nigeria Police Force headquarters in Abuja, demanding an apology from Assistant Inspector General of Police Jimoh Moshood over the handling of a case involving a man identified as Hameed.

VDM arrived at the Force headquarters in a striking display, accompanied by traditional dancers and a live singer who performed during the demonstration.

The protest was linked to the case of Hameed, whom VDM said was declared wanted in connection with a murder allegation before adequate investigation had been carried out.

According to the activist, the development took a different turn after a court cleared Hameed and ordered AIG Moshood to apologise over the matter. VDM questioned the delay in complying with the alleged court directive.

He accused the police of acting too quickly in some cases involving suspects, warning that declaring someone wanted before establishing the facts could cause lasting damage to the person’s reputation and livelihood.

VDM further used the protest to raise broader concerns about police investigations. He alleged that innocent people could be framed through the planting of incriminating materials in their vehicles or personal belongings.

He said Hameed’s situation deserved public attention because, in his view, the man had been left without adequate representation in his quest for justice.

The activist’s unusual choice of traditional dancers and a live performer added a dramatic dimension to the protest as he made his demands outside the police headquarters.

At the centre of the demonstration was his call for AIG Moshood to issue the apology he said had been ordered by the court.

The protest has generated fresh public discussion about police accountability, the treatment of suspects and the need for thorough investigations before individuals are publicly linked to serious criminal allegations.
