Frank Edoho Opens Up on Why Who Wants to Be a Millionaire Disappeared From Nigerian TV (Video)

For years, fans of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire wondered why one of Nigeria’s most successful television quiz shows suddenly vanished from their screens. Frank Edoho has now shared the story behind its unexpected exit.

Speaking in a video during an appearance on the KK Show, the veteran broadcaster said the programme came to an end after its longtime sponsor was forced to pull out because of a heavy financial penalty imposed by the Federal Government.

According to Edoho, the company had sponsored the quiz show for about 10 years before the development changed its priorities.

He explained that after the fine was imposed over an industry-related matter, the sponsor informed the producers that it could no longer finance the programme because it had to settle what he described as an enormous payment to the government.

“The sponsor was with us for a decade,” Edoho said. “Then the Federal Government fined the company over an industry issue. That affected the sponsorship of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. They told us they couldn’t continue because they had to pay an incredible amount of money to the government.”

Although Edoho did not identify the company involved or disclose the specific reason for the sanction, his remarks have provided the clearest explanation yet for the disappearance of the popular game show.

The revelation has since sparked renewed conversations among fans, many of whom had long believed the programme ended for reasons unrelated to sponsorship.
