Iran Warns Over Strait of Hormuz as US Extends Airstrikes Into Ninth Night

The conflict between Iran and the United States took another turn on Sunday as Tehran warned that continued American military action could threaten the safe movement of oil and gas through the Strait of Hormuz.

The warning came as US forces launched a ninth consecutive night of airstrikes on Iranian military targets, signalling that Washington’s campaign against Tehran remains far from over.

Iranian officials said the country’s next steps would depend on the actions of the United States, warning that the strategic waterway could become unsafe if the attacks continue.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical maritime routes, with a significant share of global crude oil and liquefied natural gas exports passing through it every day.

Although Tehran has not formally announced plans to close the strait, its latest remarks have heightened concerns about the possibility of disruptions to international energy supplies should the conflict escalate further.

The United States has maintained that its military operations are aimed at weakening Iran’s military infrastructure and reducing threats to regional security.

Reports indicate that the latest wave of strikes targeted facilities linked to Iran’s defence and missile capabilities.

The growing standoff has already unsettled global energy markets. Oil prices climbed as investors reacted to fears that any disruption to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz could affect fuel supplies and increase costs worldwide.

Shipping companies are also monitoring the situation closely as security concerns mount across the Gulf.

Governments across Europe, Asia and the Middle East have urged both sides to exercise restraint, warning that a wider conflict could have serious implications for global trade, maritime security and economic stability.

With neither Washington nor Tehran showing signs of backing down, international attention remains fixed on developments in the Gulf, where the Strait of Hormuz has once again emerged as a potential flashpoint in the deepening crisis.
