Ivory Coast’s Health Ministry has said the first person to catch the Ebola virus since 1994 has now recovered following expert medical interventions.
According to the statement issued to local media, the 18-year-old woman tested positive to the virus after travelling from Guinea to Abidjan by bus two weeks ago.
Following the first case, the West African nation rolled out a vaccination drive to protect citizens who allegedly had contact with the visitor, including security forces manning the border between Ivory Coast and Guinea.
Having tested negative twice, the woman has now moved out of isolation.
Ebola is a deadly virus endemic to Congo DR, Guinea and other two African countries.
