Atleast 100 jihadists have been killed by Niger’s army in an operation conducted near the Burkina Faso border in south-west region.
According to local media, government forces conducted a reactive operation in Torodi area following an attack that left 19 security officers dead on July 31.
Confirming the development in a statement, the country’s army said it plans to “search for and neutralise” militias responsible for both the ambush and bomb attacks.
The statement further disclosed that ammunition, vehicles and tricycles belonging to jihadists had been destroyed during the operation.
