Joe Biden Battles Advanced Cancer as Son Reveals Spread to Bones
Former United States President Joe Biden is dealing with an advanced stage of prostate cancer after the disease spread to his bones, his son, Hunter Biden, has revealed.
Hunter disclosed the development in an interview with the BBC, saying the illness has become painful and debilitating for his father.
He said watching Biden cope with the disease has been difficult for the family.
“I wish he would complain more, because it’s not good, the cancer has spread,” Hunter said.
According to him, the cancer has metastasised to Biden’s bones, making his condition increasingly challenging.
“It’s very painful… very debilitating. Cancer is really hard. It’s really sad to watch,” he added.
Hunter, Biden’s only surviving son, also spoke about his father’s importance to the family, describing him as a devoted father, husband and grandfather.

Biden announced in May 2025 that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. The announcement came several months after he left the White House.
At the time, Biden said his doctors were optimistic about his response to treatment.
“The prognosis is good, we’re working on it,” he said, while expressing appreciation for the prayers and messages of support he received.
Biden’s health had been closely watched during the final months of his presidency and his unsuccessful 2024 re-election bid.
He withdrew from the presidential race in July 2024 and was replaced as the Democratic Party’s nominee by then-Vice President Kamala Harris. She subsequently lost the election to Donald Trump.
Biden has since largely stayed away from the political spotlight, spending time with his family as he continues his treatment.
