Mamelodi Sundowns to Face Remo Stars in CAF Champions League Clash
South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns will begin their CAF Champions League campaign against Nigerian title holders Remo Stars.

The first leg of the second preliminary round is scheduled for 17 October in Nigeria, while the return match will be played in Tshwane on 24 October.
Remo Stars, who won their first-ever Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title last season, reached this stage by defeating US Zilimandjou of Comoros 5-0 on aggregate.

Since their founding in 2004, the Sky Blue Stars have grown quickly into one of Nigeria’s strongest clubs, bouncing back from relegation in 2016 to becoming league champions in 2024.
Sundowns enter the competition at this stage due to their high CAF ranking and last season’s run to the final.

To strengthen their squad, the club has also signed two Portuguese midfielders, Nuno Santos from Vitória Guimarães and Miguel Reisinho, formerly of Boavista, as they prepare for another big campaign in Africa.
