MFM Choir Strikes Gold in Sweden, Wins World Choir Games Crown
The Mountain Top Chorale of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries has recorded a major international success after winning gold in the Spiritual category of the 2026 World Choir Games in Helsingborg, Sweden.
The Nigerian choir, conducted by Oluwasegun Okedunmola, scored 87.38 points to take the top position in Category C14 – Spiritual, earning recognition at one of the world’s biggest international choral competitions.
The achievement was celebrated by the General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Daniel Olukoya, who described the result as a moment of pride for the ministry and Nigeria.
In a message shared on Monday, Olukoya congratulated the chorale under the headline, “A CHAMPION’S SOUND! GOLD FOR MOUNTAIN TOP CHORALE!”
According to him, the choir secured two significant honours at the competition. It won the gold medal in the Spiritual category and also emerged champion of the Champions Competition.
He attributed the success to the commitment and collective effort of the choristers, conductor and leadership of the choir.
Olukoya said the victory represented more than an achievement in music, describing it as evidence of discipline, excellence, dedication and teamwork, as well as an opportunity to use musical gifts in the service of God.
The 14th World Choir Games began on August 6 and will run until August 16 in Helsingborg, a coastal city in Sweden.
The event has attracted more than 160 choirs and approximately 8,500 singers from over 40 countries.
The competition, organised by Interkultur, brings choirs from different parts of the world together to compete in various categories, perform in concerts and celebrate choral music.
The organisers said the first champions of the 2026 edition were unveiled during an awards ceremony attended by participating choirs competing at the highest level of international choral performance.
Mountain Top Chorale’s victory adds to Nigeria’s visibility on the global choral music scene and gives the country another reason to celebrate its musical talent on an international platform.
The achievement also marks a significant moment for MFM and the chorale, whose performance in Sweden has placed the Nigerian group among the notable winners of the 2026 World Choir Games.
