The Nigerian Army has successfully rescued 27 passengers who were abducted by armed criminals in the Amoda community of Ohimini Local Government Area, Benue State.
This operation was carried out by troops from Operation Whirl Stroke, who launched a precise assault on the kidnappers’ hideout. The troops overpowered the captors, resulting in the safe release of all 27 victims.
The rescue is part of the Nigerian Army’s ongoing counter-terrorism and anti-crime campaign across the country. In addition to the Benue operation, the Army reported significant gains, including the killing of 15 terrorists, the arrest of 42 criminal suspects, and the rescue of 30 additional kidnapped victims.
In the North East, military forces clashed with Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgents in multiple locations, including Dikwa, Gwoza, Bama, Banki, and Gujba. The confrontations led to the death of 15 militants, while rifles, grenades, explosives, motorcycles, and communication equipment were seized.
Elsewhere, in various states, security forces made several arrests. In Kaduna, 15 individuals were detained for drug-related offenses. In Bayelsa, 25 people were apprehended for oil theft, and two suspects in Delta were arrested for similar crimes. Additionally, illegal crude oil bunkering sites were destroyed in Imo, Rivers, and Delta states.
