NIGERIA: Peter Obi Slams Tinubu’s Government for Implementing Four Budgets: ‘A Disaster in the Making’

Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has sharply criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government for implementing four budgets simultaneously.

The Senate recently extended the capital section of the 2023 supplementary budget, meaning the 2023 budget, a 2023 supplementary budget, the 2024 national budget, and an anticipated 2024 supplementary budget are all running concurrently. Obi condemned this approach as fiscally irresponsible and warned it would lead to significant budget credibility issues and exacerbate the suffering of Nigerians.
