Osun Poll: Security Operatives Nab Over 100 Alleged Imported Voters
More than 100 people allegedly brought into Osun State to vote in Saturday’s governorship election have reportedly been arrested by security operatives.
The group, said to be carrying newly issued Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), was reportedly found staying at the residence of Hon. Abiola Ibrahim, a member of the Osun State House of Assembly representing Irewole-Isokan Constituency.
A video circulating on social media showed the alleged voters being questioned by security personnel.
During the interrogation, Ibrahim reportedly admitted that the group had been accommodated at his residence and said they were there to support the Accord Party at the polls.
The alleged arrest comes amid heightened security around the election, with authorities and political parties under pressure to prevent voter manipulation and other electoral offences.
Efforts to obtain an immediate reaction from the Osun State Police Command were unsuccessful as of press time.
