The Nigeria Police Force has launched a formal investigation following the circulation of a viral video showing armed police officers jogging behind Nollywood actress Angela Okorie. The footage, which gained widespread attention online, has sparked public debate and concerns about the professionalism and discipline of the police officers involved.
According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the conduct of the officers depicted in the video violates the standards expected of law enforcement personnel. The statement emphasized that the behaviour shown was “inconsistent with the professional standards and decorum expected of personnel.” The police noted that whether the video was filmed on a movie set or not, the use of armed officers in this manner is unacceptable.
Initial reports suggest the footage may be linked to a film project titled Queen of Guns, which Angela Okorie has been promoting on her social media platforms for several months. In one post, the actress described the production as ready to “blow away your mind,” indicating the video might be part of the movie’s promotion. Despite this context, the involvement of real armed officers in the filming has drawn criticism from the public and raised questions about the appropriateness of using police personnel for entertainment purposes.
The Nigeria Police Force has stated that administrative procedures are underway to identify the officers involved, and disciplinary measures will be enforced as necessary. The Force reiterated its commitment to upholding professional conduct among its members and stressed that such incidents undermine public trust in law enforcement agencies.
As of now, Angela Okorie has not made any public statement regarding the video or the ongoing investigation. The incident has reignited discussions about the boundaries between law enforcement duties and entertainment, as well as the potential misuse of official resources for non-official activities..
