The Campaign Council for the Bayelsa All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Timipre Sylva, criticized Governor Douye Diri for allegedly trying to prevent their candidate from appearing on the ballot. They declared that Diri’s efforts to hinder Sylva have been unsuccessful. The campaign team cautioned against candidates using ‘backdoor’ methods to secure the governorship position. This response followed the Appeal Court’s clearance for Sylva to participate in the November 11 gubernatorial election in Bayelsa State, overturning a previous ruling that disqualified him. Yekini Nabena, the Secretary of Bayelsa APC Media and Publicity Committee, praised the judgment and expressed confidence in Sylva’s candidacy, emphasizing the need for development in the state.
