A young Nigerian artist has set out to break a world record by completing the longest painting marathon by an individual, painting non-stop for an astounding 168 hours across seven consecutive days.
The feat, which began on July 21 and concluded on Monday, July 28, 2025, at exactly 1:50 AM, has captured the attention of art lovers and cultural enthusiasts around the globe.
Holiveah, a visual artist from Rivers State, concluded the marathon surrounded by supporters who celebrated her remarkable discipline, dedication, and passion for the arts.
Initially, the Bonny Island native had set her sights on completing 150 hours, but she surpassed this goal, pushing through to finish the full 168 hours, a true testament to her determination and artistic spirit.
In a conversation with Channels Television, Holiveah shared her deeper motivation behind the challenge: “This wasn’t just about breaking a record. It was about proving that through consistency, creativity, and courage, African women can pave the way for global recognition.”
The Paint-A-Thon wasn’t only about achieving a world record; it also showcased Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage. Her paintings reflected themes of hope, resilience, African pride, and the power of youth expression.
The event boosted local tourism, drawing attention to Bonny Island as a potential center for creative industries, while igniting conversations about cultural development and the empowerment of young people in Africa.
Supporters described the effort as more than a personal achievement, but as a symbol of hope, artistic excellence, and African pride.
Holiveah’s record-breaking attempt is now awaiting official recognition from Guinness World Records.
