Police Storm Abuja Facility After VDM Uncovers Alleged Baby Factory

A police operation at a facility in Karshi, Abuja, has sparked fresh concerns over alleged baby trafficking.

The operation was carried out after social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, accompanied officers of the Nigeria Police Force’s Special Tactical Squad to the location.

VDM shared footage of the operation on social media, saying the team left for the area at about 4 a.m. and arrived shortly after 5 a.m.

The operation was reportedly linked to allegations surrounding the facility and claims that a child had been sold.

Upon arrival, the team reportedly found a woman in labour.

“We met an ongoing baby delivery process,” VDM said in one of the videos.

A young girl believed to be the daughter of the midwife was seen wearing medical gloves, while a boy at the facility reportedly told the team that his mother was attending to a woman in labour.

A 21-year-old pregnant woman was also found at the location and reportedly said she was married.

The midwife, who identified herself as being from Enugu State, denied allegations that the facility operated as a baby factory.

She acknowledged knowing a woman who had previously made accusations against the facility but insisted that the woman had been her patient and left with her child after delivery.

The complainant, however, gave a different account. She alleged that another woman, identified only as Kemi and described as a surrogate agent, handled payments connected to the arrangement.

She also claimed that she was forced into labour and injected six times before giving birth.

According to the footage, she further alleged that the midwife’s son administered some of the injections.

The son was reportedly identified as a student of the School of Nursing at Lincoln University, Nasarawa State, prompting questions about his authority to administer medical treatment.

During the operation, VDM also criticised what he described as poor sanitary conditions at the facility and the manner in which some medical drugs were stored.

The allegations remain unconfirmed by the police. As of the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Police Force had not released an official statement on the operation or confirmed whether any arrests had been made.
